# Write and send an edition

## Compose a new edition

Open your newsletter and choose **Compose**. A blank draft is created immediately so your work autosaves as you type. In the editor you set a **subject line**, an optional **preview text** (the teaser shown next to the subject in the inbox), and the body content.
## Build the body

The body is a rich-text area. Content is sanitized on save, so allowed formatting includes headings, bold and italic, links, lists, images, blockquotes, tables, and horizontal rules. A plain-text version is generated automatically for email clients that need it.
## Before you can send

- The edition must have a non-empty **subject line**.
- Your newsletter must have **footer text** with a physical address (required for CAN-SPAM compliance). Set it in Settings if you see a prompt.

## Send now or schedule

Choose **Send now** to deliver immediately to all active subscribers, or **Schedule** and pick a future date and time (UTC). Suppressed and unsubscribed addresses are skipped automatically. An unsubscribe link and your footer are injected into every message, along with one-click unsubscribe headers for Gmail and Apple Mail.
## Cancel or edit

A scheduled edition can be edited or cancelled from the editions list right up until it sends. Once an edition is sent it becomes read-only. Track results in [Track opens, clicks, and deliverability](track-opens-clicks-and-deliverability).
