# Track rights, metadata, and versions

## Rights and licensing

On an asset's **Edit** page you can record the **rights holder**, a **license type**, and an **expiry date**. Expiry is enforced on delivery — once the date passes, share links stop serving the file, and upcoming expiries appear on the dashboard so nothing lapses unnoticed.
## Custom metadata fields

Go to **Settings** to define metadata fields that apply across your library. Each field has a name, a type (such as text, number, date, or a select list of options), and can be marked required. Once defined, the fields appear on every asset's edit page so your team captures consistent information — campaign codes, photographer, usage region, and so on.
## Versions

Whenever you upload a **replacement file** on the edit page, the previous file is automatically snapshotted as a version. You can add an optional version label and notes. The asset's version number increments and its share link rotates.

From the detail page you can review the version history and **restore** any earlier version; the current file is snapshotted first, so a restore is always reversible. Deleting an asset removes the current file and all of its stored versions.
## Editing core details

The same edit page lets you change the title, description, folder, permission, content-type label, and tags. A title is always required.
