# Subtitling standards (presets)

## One place for your rules

A **standard** is a named set of QA rules: max characters per line, max lines, reading-speed target and hard max (CPS), min/max duration, minimum gap, frame rate, and content checks (empty, ALL-CAPS, line-end hyphenation, leading space).

Open **Subtitles → Standards** to create, edit, clone, or delete standards. A generic **Default** standard is created for you to start from — clone it to build your own house style.
