# Per-language rules

## Different rules per language

Languages differ — reading speeds, quotation marks, decimal separators, measurement systems. On a standard's edit page, add a **language rule** for a code like `de` or `de-DE`. You can override the numeric rules (e.g. a different CPS max) and set market conventions (quotes, decimal separator, time format, measurement system) plus free-text guidance.

When a track's language matches (by exact code, then primary subtag), the editor applies the overrides automatically and shows the guidance at the top. Turn on the quote-style check to warn when straight quotes are used instead of the market's quotation marks.
