# Access levels and scoping to projects

## Three access levels

- **Full access** — every project, and can create new ones.
- **Reviewer** — only the projects you list, and can edit their captions.
- **Read only** — only the projects you list, view only.

Choose **Edit access** on somebody's row to change it. For Reviewer and Read only, pick the projects by searching for them — the picker is a search box rather than a list of every project, because a workspace with three hundred projects makes a checkbox list unusable.
## Scoping now applies to colleagues too

Project scoping used to be for outside collaborators only. It applies to anybody. Not every colleague needs every project, and if somebody genuinely does, giving them **Full access** says so plainly.

**Nothing changed for anyone when this shipped.** A person with no scoping set has full access, exactly as before; scoping only ever starts when somebody sets it.
## What a scoped colleague can no longer reach

Somebody limited to particular projects loses **Standards**, **Compositions**, **Members** and **Portal Settings** — those links disappear from their sidebar as well. "These three projects" and "this app's configuration" are different grants, and the second does not follow from the first. Give them Full access if they need both.

Outside collaborators never reach those pages, at any access level.
## Two things you cannot do

- **Restrict a workspace admin.** Admins always have full access. The Members page is itself behind the access it would be restricting, so an admin who scoped themselves would lock away the only control that could undo it.
- **Restrict or remove yourself.** Ask another admin.
