# The caption editor

## Edit captions next to the video

The editor puts the video beside a list of cues. For each cue you can:

- Edit the **text** and the **in/out timecodes**.
- Click **⏱** to set a timecode from the current playhead.
- **Snap** a cue's start to the previous cue's end, add a cue at the playhead, or delete one.
- Use the toolbar to **shift all cues** earlier/later or **close gaps** in bulk.

The playing caption highlights as the video plays, and your changes save with the **Save** button. Export to **VTT**, **SRT**, or plain text any time — or save a finished track back into Digital Assets.
