# Subscription revenue: MRR/ARR and deferred revenue

**Category:** [Accounting](https://help.totalctrl.app/hc/totalctrl/totalctrl-help-center/en-US/categories/accounting)
**Updated:** 2026-08-19

If you run a subscription business, connect Stripe and TotalCtrl turns your payments into proper books.
## MRR / ARR

With Stripe connected, the Accounting dashboard shows live **MRR**, **ARR** and active subscription count, computed from your active Stripe subscriptions. Stripe charges, refunds, fees and payouts import as balanced journal entries.
## Deferred revenue

For prepaid/annual plans, recognize revenue evenly over the term instead of all at once. In *Accounting → Deferred Revenue*, create a schedule (total, start date, number of months). It moves the total into the Deferred Revenue liability, then recognizes one slice each month (Dr Deferred Revenue / Cr Sales) automatically.
