# Run analysis and AI Analysis

## Two buttons

**Run analysis** is arithmetic and pattern matching over the rows — no model is called and no AI Units are spent. It reports placeholder mismatches between a source and its translations, length problems, untranslated strings, and strings that break a rule from your Standards packages.

**AI Analysis** is the tone and formality check described below.

## Silence means clean, not "nothing ran"

Every run now reports **how many checks ran** and names any that failed, separately from the findings. A result of "no findings" from a run where two checks errored is not an all-clear, and it used to look exactly like one.

If you ran analysis before and always saw zero findings, that is why — the checks were failing before they produced anything, and the page had no way to say so. Both buttons work; run them again.

## Tone and formality

This is the one check a model answers, and it is kept apart from the others in three ways on purpose:

- It reports a **rate over the set**, not a verdict on each string. "Roughly one string in eight reads more formal than your profile" is something a content owner can act on. "This string is 12% too formal" is a number nobody can check.

- It is always **advisory**. It never joins the error and warning counts, so a judgment cannot inflate a figure that is otherwise countable.

- It **states its sample size**. A rate from 200 of 9,000 strings is an estimate, and reading it as a census is the mistake it invites.

### How much is checked

A set of **500 strings or fewer is checked whole**. Above that, an evenly spaced sample of 200 is checked and the result says so — and you are offered the full run with the number of model calls in front of you before you start it.

### Which tone it compares against

Your workspace's default tone of voice profile from Standards & Brand Hub, unless you pick another in the dialog. If no profile exists the check says so instead of inventing a standard to measure you against.

It runs in the background. Leave the page — the result lands in your notification tray.
