# Signing a document you received

**Category:** [Document Signing](https://help.totalctrl.app/hc/totalctrl/totalctrl-help-center/en-US/categories/document-signing)
**Updated:** 2026-08-19

## What signers see

Open the secure link from your email — no account or app needed. Review the document, then complete each field assigned to you. You can **draw, type, or upload** your signature.

Before your first signature you'll be asked to agree to use **electronic records and signatures** — this consent is part of what makes the signature legally valid, and it's recorded on the document's certificate. When you finish, you'll get a copy of the completed document, which includes a Certificate of Completion.

Don't want to sign? Use **Decline** and (optionally) tell the sender why.
