# Adding a questionnaire

## What you can upload

Excel (`.xlsx`, `.xlsm`), Word (`.docx`) and PDF, up to 25 MB.
## Check the columns before you confirm

We read the file and show you what we think each column is — which one holds the question, which is for the answer. Change it if we guessed wrong. **Nothing is created until you confirm**, so getting this wrong costs you a second look rather than a cleanup.
## Extracted questions arrive as drafts

This is the important part. Reading somebody else's spreadsheet is a guess, so extracted questions land as **drafts**: they are not in the answering queue, not assigned to anybody, and not counted in the progress figures.

- **Confirm** promotes them into real questions and moves the response to Answering.
- **Discard** deletes the drafts and only the drafts. A corrected mapping can never take an answered question with it.

Without this, the first person to notice a bad mapping would be an expert staring at row 47.
## You can import again

The column review stays available after import — it is the only record of what the mapping was. It says **Already imported**, and importing a second time asks you to confirm first.
## A PDF is different

A PDF has no cells or paragraphs to write into, only text at coordinates. So a response built from a PDF exports to our own branded document instead of the buyer's file — and we tell you that at upload, not at export. Finding out your formatting is gone when you are about to submit is not a graceful degradation.
## Drafts still count towards your plan

A stored question costs what a stored question costs, so drafts count against your monthly extraction limit. Otherwise never pressing Confirm would be a way to hold unlimited questions.
