# Assigning questions to experts

## Getting questions to the right people

Open any question to assign it, or tick several on the response page and assign them together — a whole security section to one person in a single action.
### Two distinct roles

- **Answering** — who writes or corrects the answer.
- **Reviewing** — who approves it.

They are separate on purpose. The person who wrote an answer is the worst person to judge whether it is true.
### Due dates and reminders

Set a due date per question. Assignees are reminded when questions are due soon and when they are overdue, grouped to one notification per response rather than one per question.

Reminders are per question, not per response, because "the questionnaire is due Friday" is not actionable by someone who owes two answers out of ninety. They stop once a response is signed off or submitted.
### Sending an answer back

A reviewer can send an answer back with a note. The answer text is kept — disagreeing with the wording is not a reason to lose the expert's work — and the question returns to **Needs input**.
