# Organize with notebooks, tags, and pins

## Create a notebook

Notebooks group related notes. In the sidebar, create a **New notebook**, give it a name, and pick a color. The notebook appears in the sidebar with a count of how many notes it contains. Select it to see only that notebook's notes.
## Rename, recolor, or delete a notebook

Open a notebook and use its edit option to change the name or color. If you delete a notebook, its notes are **not** lost — they are automatically moved to your default notebook. Your default notebook (*My Notes*) cannot be deleted.
## Use tags

Tags are labels that work across notebooks. In the note editor, open the tag field, type to search existing tags, or create a new one on the spot and give it a color. A note can carry several tags. Click any tag in the sidebar to see every note that uses it. Deleting a tag removes it from all notes but leaves the notes themselves intact.
## Pin important notes

Use the **pin** button in the editor to keep a note at the top. Pinned notes always appear first in every list, and the sidebar's **Pinned** view collects them in one place. Click pin again to unpin.
## Find notes fast

The search box runs a full-text search over note titles and content. Pinned notes always sort first, followed by the most recently updated.
