# Invite and manage members

## Inviting people

Open the **Invites** page to create an invite link. You can optionally tie an invite to a specific **email**, choose the **role** the invitee receives (member, moderator, or admin), set a **maximum number of uses**, and set an expiry in hours. Share the generated link; people who follow it land on the registration flow for your public portal. You can **revoke** any invite at any time.
## Approving new members

If you enabled **Require approval** in [General settings](set-up-and-brand-your-community), new sign-ups arrive with a **pending** status. Filter the Members list by pending status and click **Approve** to activate them.
## The members list

The **Members** page is searchable by name or email and can be filtered by **role** and **status**. Open any member to see their profile and recent posts.
## Roles and status

- **Roles** — set a member as `admin`, `moderator`, or `member`. Admins and moderators can post in locked spaces and help moderate.
- **Status** — set a member to `active`, `suspended`, `banned`, or `pending`. Banning a member fires a removal event other apps can react to.

Member activity also feeds your [analytics](track-community-analytics), including top contributors.
