# Signing a document you received

**Category:** [Document Signing](https://help.totalctrl.app/hc/totalctrl/totalctrl-help-center/en-US/categories/document-signing)
**Updated:** 2026-08-19

If someone sent you a document to sign, you'll receive an email with a **Review & Sign** button. You do not need a TotalCtrl account.

- Click the link in the email to open the document in your browser.
- Review the document, then click each highlighted field to complete it.
- For a signature field, choose **Draw**, **Type**, or **Upload** to adopt your signature.
- When all required fields are complete, click **Finish & Sign**.

## Declining

If you do not wish to sign, click **Decline** and optionally give a reason. The sender is notified.

Your link is unique to you — don't forward it. If it expires, ask the sender to send a new one.
