## What is prompt evaluation?

Evaluation lets you measure how well a prompt version performs against a set of known inputs and expected outputs — helping catch regressions before deploying a new version.

## Run an evaluation

- Select a prompt version and click **Run eval**.

- Choose a dataset.

- Click **Start**. TotalCtrl sends each dataset row through the prompt and scores the output using an LLM judge.

- Results show a score (0–100) and rationale for each row, plus an overall average score.
