# Journeys

A **journey** is a multi-step, multi-channel automation. Contacts enroll — either when they match a segment or when an event fires — and then move through steps over time: send a message on a channel, wait a delay, branch, and send again.

Each step is sent at most once per enrolled contact, so journeys are safe to run continuously. Use them for welcome series, onboarding, re-engagement, and renewal reminders.
