# Drag-and-drop reporting lines

The fastest way to shape a chart is to drag people around.
## How to

- **Drop onto a person** to make the dragged person report to them.
- **Drop onto empty space** to make them top-level.

## Visual cues

While dragging, a chip follows your cursor and the box you're hovering highlights **green** when it's a valid target or **red** when it isn't.
## Cycle protection

You can't drop a manager onto one of their own reports — that would create an impossible loop, so those targets show red and the drop is rejected. Everything else stays exactly where it was.
