# Digital Assets overview

## What Digital Assets does

Digital Assets is your team's central media library. Upload images, video, audio, PDFs, and documents once, then organize, control access to, and deliver them across your other TotalCtrl apps and the public web.
## The main pages

- **Dashboard** — total asset count, storage used, a breakdown by type, your most recent uploads, and any assets expiring within the next 30 days.
- **Browse** — a searchable grid/list of every asset. Filter by folder, type, permission, or language, and run bulk move or delete actions.
- **Upload** — add one or many files at once, choosing a folder, permission level, content-type label, and comma-separated tags.
- **Asset detail** — preview the file, view its metadata, manage share links, restore older versions, and run AI tools.
- **Settings** — define custom metadata fields and manage the languages available for your assets.

## Key concepts

- **Permissions** control who can open a file: `Private`, `Restricted`, or `Public`. See [Control asset access and share links](control-asset-access-and-share-links).
- **Folders** keep your library tidy and can be color-coded.
- **Versions** are kept automatically whenever you replace a file, so you can roll back.
- **Rights fields** (rights holder, license, expiry) let you track usage terms.

Uploads are capped at **200 MB per file**, and your plan sets limits on total asset count and monthly public deliveries.
