# Create and format a note

## Create a new note

From any view in Notes, click **New note**. A blank note titled *Untitled* is created and the editor opens immediately. If you start from inside a notebook, the note is placed in that notebook; otherwise it goes into your default *My Notes* notebook.
## Add a title and content

- Click the title field at the top and type a name for your note.
- Click into the body and start writing. The editor supports rich text, including **bold**, italics, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, blockquotes, and links.

## Autosave

Your changes are saved automatically as you type, so there is no separate Save button. The editor records updates in the background, and the note's *last updated* time reflects your most recent edit.
## Color-code the card

Use the **color** button in the editor toolbar to set a card color (yellow, green, blue, pink, and more). The color is shown on the note card in list views, making notes easy to scan and group visually.
## Move it to the right place

Use the notebook picker in the toolbar to move the note into a different notebook at any time. To organize further with tags and pinning, see [Organize with notebooks, tags, and pins](organize-with-notebooks-tags-and-pins).
