# Contacts Overview

## What is Contacts?

Contacts provides a unified view of every person in your TotalCtrl workspace, regardless of which app they came from. CRM contacts, accounting contacts, community members, and project members all appear in one deduplicated list.

## How deduplication works

Contacts are matched by email address (case-insensitive). If the same email exists in multiple apps, they are presented as a single contact record with source badges indicating which apps know about this person.

## Custom fields

Admins can add custom fields (text, number, date, yes/no, dropdown) that appear on every contact. Go to **Contacts → Custom fields** to manage them.

## Importing contacts

Import from a CSV or XLSX file via **Contacts → Import**.
