# Connect a custom sending domain

## Why use your own domain

By default, newsletters send from a shared TotalCtrl address with no setup needed. Switching to **Custom** sending mode lets your emails come from your own domain (for example `news@yourcompany.com`), which improves brand recognition and deliverability.
## Step 1 — set a custom From address

In your newsletter's Settings, change the sending mode to **Custom** and enter a valid From email address. The sending domain is derived automatically from the part after the `@`.
## Step 2 — register the domain

Use **Add domain** and choose your region (US or EU). TotalCtrl registers the domain with the email provider and returns a set of DNS records (typically SPF, DKIM, and tracking records).
## Step 3 — add the DNS records

Copy the displayed records into your DNS host exactly as shown. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate.
## Step 4 — verify

Click **Verify** to check propagation. When the provider reports the domain as active, its status becomes **verified** and your editions begin sending from that domain. If records aren't detected yet, the status stays pending — wait and verify again.
## Managing the domain

You can configure a domain per newsletter or one account-level domain in the global Newsletter settings. Remove a domain at any time to fall back to the shared TotalCtrl sender.
