# Automating Surveys with Autopilot

## What is Autopilot?

Autopilot automatically sends surveys to your audience on a recurring schedule, suppressing contacts who have already responded within the configured interval.

## Setting up email Autopilot

  
- Open a survey and click **Autopilot**.
  
- Set the **channel** to Email (or Both).
  
- Choose your **audience**: a CRM list, tag, all CRM contacts, or a managed contact list.
  
- Set the **re-survey interval** (default 30 days).
  
- Customise the email subject, from name, and body. Use `{{first_name}}` and `{{survey_link}}` as placeholders.
  
- Toggle **Autopilot active**.

## Setting up web widget Autopilot

  
- Set the channel to Web (or Both).
  
- Choose a placement: bottom-right, bottom-left, centre, or bottom bar.
  
- Set the trigger: page load, 50% scroll, exit intent, or custom event.
  
- Configure the suppression period (default 90 days).
  
- Copy the JavaScript snippet from the Distribute tab and add it to your website.
