# Selecting assets, including across pages

## The checkboxes are always there

There is no selection mode to turn on. Every asset carries a checkbox, and the actions appear as soon as you tick one — so there is nothing to discover before you can start.
### Selecting more than the page you are on

Tick everything on the page and the bar offers **Select all N**, with N stated as a number. That is the moment your intent becomes ambiguous, and one of the available actions is Delete, so the count is spelled out rather than implied.

Choosing it acts on everything matching your current filters, not just the rows you can see. Change the search, the type or the folder and the count changes with it.
### What the actions apply to

- **A hand-picked selection** acts on exactly those assets.
- **Select all N** acts on the whole filtered set, evaluated on the server — so a 4,000-asset selection is 4,000 assets, not the two dozen the page happened to have loaded.

### Filters that match nothing

An action whose filters match nothing is refused rather than treated as “everything”. Clearing a filter should never be a way to empty your library.
