# Add knowledge sources

## What knowledge sources are

A knowledge source is anything you want the agent to learn from. When you add a source it is automatically **chunked, embedded, and indexed** so the agent can search it. Open the **Knowledge Sources** tab and click **Add Knowledge Source**.
## Source types

- **Help Center** — pick one of your existing help centers in this workspace.
- **Resolved Tickets** — learn from past Support tickets.
- **API Hub** — index a published API Hub project's spec and SDK info.
- **Website / URL** — crawl a page or site (see below).
- **File Upload** — upload a document such as a PDF or text file.
- **Manual Q&A** — type a title and content directly for one-off answers.

## Crawling a website

For a **URL** source you choose a **crawl scope**: `Single page only`, `All pages under this path`, `Use sitemap.xml`, or `Entire domain` (depth-limited). Set a crawl depth and, if needed, **exclude patterns** (one per line) to skip unwanted URLs.
## Keeping sources fresh

URL sources support an **index schedule** of `Manual only`, `Daily`, or `Weekly`. Scheduled sources re-index automatically in the background. You can also click **Re-index** on any source at any time. Each source shows a status badge — *Pending*, *Indexing*, *Indexed*, or *Error* — plus how many chunks it produced.
