# Manual audits & sign-off

## Why manual review matters

Automated testing reliably catches roughly 40% of accessibility issues — things like color contrast, missing labels, and ARIA misuse. The rest (meaningful alt text, logical focus order, sensible reading sequence) need a human. The **Manual audit** gives you a reviewer checklist of exactly those criteria.
## Working through a checklist

- Create an audit for a project against a conformance profile.
- Go criterion by criterion, marking each **Supports**, **Partially supports**, **Does not support**, or **Not applicable**, with notes.
- Criteria that a scan already failed are pre-filled so you don't retest them by hand.
- When you're done, **sign off** the audit to lock it as a reviewed record.
