# Academy overview

## What is Academy?

Academy is a customer-education LMS — a branded training site for your **customers and partners** (not internal employees). Publish courses, enroll learners, track progress, issue certificates, and report on completion. Because it runs on the same platform as your CRM, CSM, billing, and content, learner activity ties back to your contacts and accounts.
### Key concepts

- **Course** — a unit of training made of **sections** (modules) and **lessons**.
- **Lesson** — HTML content, a video, an imported SCORM/xAPI package, or a native quiz.
- **Enrollment** — a learner taking a course; progress is tracked per lesson and rolls up to a completion %.
- **Members** — people with a role on a course (owner, instructor, student, viewer). External learners join as single-app guests.

### Left navigation

Academy → **Dashboard**, **Courses**, **Course Templates**, **Custom Fields**, and **Academy Settings**. Inside a course you'll also see **Curriculum**, **Members**, **Report**, and **Settings**.
### Where Academy fits

Academy *delivers and tracks* learning — it hosts content. To build rich interactive content, author it in a tool like Articulate or Captivate and **import the SCORM/xAPI package** into a lesson. Use the native quiz builder for simple assessments.
